The word seems to get thrown around too often: revolution. Sometimes the ideas presented behind a revolution aren’t solid enough to cause a force great enough to change the world. The founding fathers had a revolutionary idea. One that was so great thousands people died for that simple idea of freedom. Millions have died since in the name of freedom and many more will in the future. Freedom is an idea so revolutionary man will do anything to achieve it. Even if that means death.
Freedom is embedded in the DNA of every human being. We want to be allowed to live as we see fit. It’s no wonder so many people have died in the name of freedom. It’s no wonder slavery is seen as such an evil act, no man should be bound and not allowed to live freely. I can only imagine what Jefferson would say about the state of our current government. I am sure he would have a strong case of déjà vu. He would also morn, realizing the great dream of a free nation has quickly eroded and relapsed to our very beginning.
I no longer hear our elected officials speaking of freedom in the terms our founding fathers did. We are now bound by laws, most that are ‘for our own good.’ Our incomes are snatched away so the government can run the lives of our citizens. We’re told what we can eat, what we can watch and how we can live. Tell me, how is this freedom? Are we truly free or only free according to terms allotted by our government? The purpose of the 2nd amendment is made clear when you realize how important it is we are able to protect ourselves from our own government. They knew first hand what a government drunk on power can do to your freedoms. We too will soon know why that right is so important.
A political revolution should always serve the purpose of dismantling a government that has become too big. Our government has become too big. Our elected officials make promises, sweet talk us to victory and change faces once they are announced the winner. The government is taking money from its citizens to pay the bonuses of big banks. We’re spending more money than we have, we’re spoon feeding the poor and assuring they never prosper on their own merits. We tell people how to live and we call this the land of the free. People, this is not freedom. Selective freedom is not freedom at all.
Compassionate conservatism was the battle cry of George W. Bush. The Patriot Act, a bill that allows American citizens to be monitored without warrant and arrested without charge is anything but compassionate. Barack Obama’s battle cry was hope and change. Using fear to sway votes in congress for wasteful spending is not hope and a bigger government, higher taxes and less personal freedom is not change; it’s more of the same. When a politician promises real change–a drastic change in the way things work–the America people mock and berate them. America has allowed themselves to become comfortable with this limited freedom. It will stay that way until they wake up and witness the yokes around their necks.
Is it time for a revolution? It may be, the atmosphere in the country is turning for the worse. More and more people are realizing the restraints on them. They are realizing the secrecy and back room ways of our government. I hope more people also align these problems with the major issue of our government being a one party system. Democrats leave, Republicans come; why does everything remain the same? I know why, I see how little sets the two major parties apart. I also see the change of attitude. From hope and change to war and taxes. Something must be done, someone needs to sound the alarm and start the revolution.
If we want the freedom to be completely free. If we want to know that our government fears us, not the other way around. If we want the satisfaction in knowing our hard work benefits us, not some big shot banker. If we want to look at our country with teary eyes cause by pride from the thought of a truly free nation. To know that our elected officials speak for us. To know that never again will we have to carry that ball and chain. We must stand up. We must resist. We must force real change in Washington. Dump the same old people, dump the Republicans, dump the Democrats and exchange them for freedom loving Americans.
It’s so much to ask for but so easy to achieve. Every single one of us can force the needed change in Washington. Every couple years we vote and every couple years we chose the lesser of two evils. As a conservative I a can no longer accept the half whits the Republicans push on me. As a Democrat you should no longer allow your party to decide your worth. There’s an unnecessary stigma around third party candidates. They are not ‘the other choice’ anymore. They are the clear choice. The only way to break the cycle is to stop repeating the cycle. Simple enough, I urge you to vote Libertarian, to vote for the Constitution Party; to vote for anyone who speaks for freedom.
Laziness should never influence your vote. You don’t vote for the candidate offering the most benefits. It’s also wrong to vote for the man or woman offering change with a snails trail behind them that proves they are more of the same. We are not stupid, we should know better than this. Are we Republicans and Democrats or are we Americans? Do we love our constitution or see it as a piece of legislation, something that gets in the way of our personal desires? Obviously a lot of Americans feel that way. So many ask “how much more can I get from the government if I vote for candidate A instead of B?”
I want to leave you with this thought: how much worse does it have to get before people realize both political parties are to blame for our economic problems? How much longer before the American people understand what real freedom is? For some, they will never understand. If you do understand I urge you to speak the same message. You’ll be marked as a terrorist, called a heretic and spit on by people you are trying to save. A revolution begins with ideas, succeeds because of passion and fails because of inaction. Act, don’t sit back. My passion is freedom, to remind everyone of their right to be free. If you share that passion we are comrades. R, D or I; freedom lovers unite.
You asked how long before Americans wake up and stand up to what is happening in our country today. How long before they see that both parties are to blame? Here is what I have seen, those of us who are watching are actively working against moving our country to a socialist nation. However, most Americans do not even watch the news, they say it is too depressing or they cannot do anything about it so they choose to ignore it. Personally, I try to engage these people into standing for America, but find it very hard to break through the shell they have built around themselves. I am more interested in how we can engage these people into taking an active part before it is too late. Time is so short I fear it may already be too late…
Most know both parties are too blame…especially the Dems as no way are they going to take the fall…This foes way way way back and history repeats itself…We as a nation have been so dumbed down that it’s not even funny…I look at what I was reading in the 5th grade and it’s lucky to be taught in College~~~~All presidents have the same puppet master, just the game changes for each admin. I don’t think enough people even understand what Socialism is..lolll
Yes it is hard to break the shell…I’ve been going full blast since November and then built this in February…To help us gain momentum if you would digg an article[most r done so you just have to vote. and use the RT button off of posts you like...There are over 750 articles and videos on this site just alone...I try and put as much as I can on here as you wouldn't believe how stuff is disappearing[meaning censored off the web] it is truly frightening….
